“SLAVIJA” THEATRE

Branislav Nušić
„THE HEARTLESS WOMAN”

Adapted by – DR RAŠKO V. JOVANOVIĆ
Director – SLAVENKO SALETOVIĆ
Stage Designer – BORIS MAKSIMOVIĆ
Costume Designer – DANICA RAKOČEVIĆ
Music – BRANISLAV PIPOVIĆ
Cast
Dr Jakšić – MARKO ŽIVIĆ
Dr Stefanović – MIHAILO LAPTOŠEVIĆ
Police agent – DANIJEL KOVAČEVIĆ
Heartless wo man – STAŠA RADULOVIĆ
That young man – VAHID DŽANKOVIĆ

Having lived and worked in the same period as Andre Breton, Louis Aragon, Antonin Artaud, Paul Eluard, Philippe Soupault, Aleksandar Vučo, Oskar Davičo, Milan Dedinac, Djordje Jovanović, Koča Popović and Marko Ristić, Branislav Nušić, the most important, the best and the most famous Serbian comedist, could not resist the temptation to get involved in a surrealistic dramatic experiment. Thus, „The Heartless Woman“ was created, as a surprisingly powerful, thoughtful, ethical and infinitely significant and interesting drama “for all time”. The theatre in which everything is possible, in which it is thought, spoken and listened; and the essence of mankind is reached.
The text is based on an incredible, medical, futuristic assumption moving between life and death, love and hate. Brilliant Nušić manages to convince us utterly in the power of otherworld forces: Maybe we do not need to have heart, but love will give life to us!
S. Saletović, Director
